I mentioned in my last post that I have an affinity for Black Hat techniques when it comes to internet marketing. I say this without shame as the fact is that anybody making decent money on the internet resorts to at least some black hat techniques at least some of the time. Why... You have too. There are only so many hours in the day and making real money online requires a massive amount of work. Most black hat techniques are really just systems and automated software programs designed to let you mass produce 100's or thousands of copies of something in short order - letting you do more work in far less time.
For me, Project Black Mask is a disappointment. I was really hoping for something new and got a 97 page general outline of the most basic concepts of Black Hat adsense marketing with a few undeveloped snippets of SEO basics, Linking strategies, automated programs and blogging strategy. In short everything in this ebook is old and known to all of us who have been in this market for a while.
Worse yet is that this book takes several topics or systems and gives a brief overview of what it is, how it works and then lists several programs you will need to buy to pull it off. The problem is that using the programs and methods as outlined will get you into a lot of trouble. To do everything in this book you will need a great deal of knowledge in the field of programming, scripts, servers - what I am trying to say is that this is not for beginners and even those of you who already have rudimentary knowledge of these techniques have long ago realized that to pull this off requires a lot of time - day in day out kind of time - you wont be doing this in a few spare hours each evening.
I will go so far as to say that there is nothing in this manual that I haven't touched upon on this blog at one point or another. This book basically tells you that to make money online you need to create hundreds of sites with thousands of pages. You use automated software to do this.
Have you heard this before?
Of course you have. The manual gives a brief overview of how you do this but leaves out a great deal of the details. It's the details that make the difference however and attempting to do what the manual suggests will likely get you banned by Google if you don't know how to tweak things properly.
For example;
Project Black Mask explains that you will need templates and also correctly points out that canned templates leave footprints that Google can recognize. The author tells you that you will have to change the footprints and gives you a few examples of what footprints are.
Do you know how to change them - you had better because this manual doesn't tell you.
You are told to use a squeeze page - not how to build one.
You are told to use .edu domains - not how to get on a .edu domain.
You are told to buy links with high PR. - but not how to find the "right" links.
You are told to build a blog farm but the nuances of how to do this properly is not included.
You are told to spam forums and blog comments - this shocked me as most blog platforms and forum platforms use the "no-follow" attribute which has rendered this practice almost useless.
I could go on but the general point is this. If the information contained in this manual is new to you then I am warning you not to try any of it - you are missing most of the knowledge needed to pull this off. If you have the knowledge to pull this off then you are already a Black Hatter and don't need this book - you already know this stuff.
I can't prove this but I got the feeling, about half way through, Project Black Mask was written by someone who has never done any of the things in the book, rather the writer was condensing material from what others had told him. The concepts are correct but are incomplete and anyone who really knows what they are doing wouldn't leave out the ever so important details.
Moreover, the manual is a bit out of date - it only cursorily mentions blogging and social bookmarking and doesn't touch on video (youtube, myspace etc) which is where the latest Black Hat techniques are concentrated. The techniques mentioned in this book still work but they are not where the leading edge black hatters are focusing their energy.
In summation, I can't say this is a good buy for anyone but I won't say it is garbage either. It is a perfectly fine outline of what Black Hatters do but it is not complete enough to teach you how to be a successful Black Hatter. If it sold for $10 I would tell beginners to buy it just to expand their knowledge a bit. At $77 it is a far too expensive primer. Save your money - if you are patient I will cover every thing you need to know in this field using this blog - and it will be free.
Project Black Mask - I'll pass and you should too.
